Dr. Paul G. Schempp

Dr. Paul G. Schempp is an expert on expertise. Named the 2004 Distinguished Scholar by the International Center for Performance Excellence at West Virginia University, he has dedicated his professional life to understanding what it takes to be an expert performer. As a research professor and the Director of the Sport Instruction Research Laboratory at the University of Georgia, he has spent over a decade conducting research into the characteristics and development of expertise.

Dr. Schempp, president of Performance Matters, Inc., is a professional speaker, coach and consultant. Paul has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of research, teaching and professional development. Individuals and organizations in business, education and sport have elevated their expertise and achieved exceptional performance by working with Dr. Schempp.

The author of four books, over 70 articles, and having given over 100 presentations in 20 countries makes Professor Schempp an internationally renowned speaker, scholar, and educator. He has served as a Senior Fulbright Research Scholar at the University of Frankfurt (Germany), a visiting professor at the Nanyang Technical University in Singapore, and has delivered lectures at two dozen universities on three continents.

Applying research to practice, Paul has designed performance programs for the Swedish Golf Federation and Mexico National Golf teams. He also coaches individual players on the PGA, European PGA, LPGA and Canadian Tour professional golf tours. As a scientific consultant to Golf Digest, he is instrumental in selecting America's 50 Greatest Teachers.
